This island of Cozumel is a gateway into a magical land for divers of all experience levels. Echo for its own slice of paradise. Cozumel is the ideal day-trip where there is an amazing reef system. With only 26 miles to explore this little island hosts over 2.5 million tourists each year. It is known for the brilliant beaches, colorful reefs and some serious surf for the surfer in you. With such a paradise at your fingertips, there is more to Cozumel than beaches and reefs. The Punta Sur Echo Beach Park is a vast ecological paradise at the southern tip of the island. It boasts a 2,500-acre spread of protected land full of indigenous species that includes crocodiles, birds, sea turtles and much more wildlife. The park is also home to the El Caracol Mayan ruins full of ecological wonders.
While you are there, don’t forget to stop by the Celerain lighthouse. This also is a must see. The lighthouse hosts a wonderful maritime museum and is near the beach, so you can take a dip in the warm crystal blue waters while you are there.
Explore The Town
Cozumel has a unique culture. Just a short boat trip away from Cancun it will take you through a vibrant little town that has a flavor of Mexico and Caribbean vibes. It is easy to get around in this town. Stroll down San Miguel where you will have access to more than 100 restaurants and sidewalk cafes. You’ll find a variety of French, Swiss and Mexican influences. Don’t forget to try the Yucatan pulled pork, it is simply delicious.
